Venice Smart house
Smart Car open house on Abbot Kinney
I just happened to be walking down Abbot Kinney Blvd in Venice on Saturday afternoon, just in time for the opening of the Venice Smart House. Smart because it's the temporary headquarters for the new 2008 Smart Car launch, but also because it's a pretty amazing piece of modern architecture.
We got there just in time for the open house, with cocktails and appetizers, a DJ spinning on the 2nd floor, and a Smart fortwo on every other floor from the iPod white model in the storefront window to the bright yellow cabrio on the third floor patio overlooking the street.
They also have a handful of cars in the back, ready for a test drive. I guess I will have to go back, because there was a little bit of a wait, and I already had a glass of wine in my hand.
The Venice Smart House will stay open from Tuesday to Sunday, between October 13th and January 31st, and is planning a number of events, including a couple of art shows, and a concert by Piers Faccini.
