The Blab! Show
Amy Crehore and Ryan Heshka for The Blab! Show at CoproNason gallery
I went to the Copro-Nason gallery today, and saw The Blab! Show which is an exhibition of the original paintings used in the making of the book. Blab! is an art coffee table magazine and yearly anthology published by Fantagraphics.
Monte Beauchamp's annual darling of the graphic design and illustration world is a spectacular collection of cutting-edge comics, illustration, and graphic design. BLAB!'s list of contributors past and present reads like a Who's Who of the contemporary visual art world including Mark Ryden, Chris Ware, Gary Panter, Joe Coleman, and many more.
My favorite paintings in the exhibition were the work of Amy Crehore, with her Douanier Rousseau-inspired island babes and frisky monkey, and a multi piece from Ryan Heshka called Sun Rays of Death an allegory about global warming.
More images after the break.
Dear Amy
Oops! sorry about the misspelling. Congratulations on selling all of your paintings at the show.
Blab show
Thank you!
One guy bought them all on opening night!
(check spelling at top..."Cremore" is still slightly off)
Happy Saturday.
